In the glass, Château Montrose 2009 shows a deep, intense color that reflects its concentration and Cabernet-driven backbone. The nose is layered and complex, with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, mulberry, forest floor, damp earth, crushed stone, and a subtle floral lift. On the palate, it is full-bodied and densely packed, with abundant sweet tannins, impressive structure, and a core of dark fruit supported by mineral nuance and freshness. The wine is built for the long haul and will continue to evolve beautifully over decades, with an anticipated drinking window stretching well into the future.

Viininvalmistus
Château Montrose is located on a 95-hectare contiguous estate in Saint-Estèphe, where warm gravelly soils over clay provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape in the blend. The vineyard is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot adding softness, fragrance, and spice. The wine is matured for 18 months in 60% new French oak, after strict parcel-by-parcel and production-level selection to ensure only the finest fruit is used for the grand vin.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for rich, savory dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb saddle, beef Wellington, or slow-braised short ribs. It also pairs beautifully with game, truffle dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for several hours, especially if opening in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully and show its layered complexity.

Château Montrose is one of the great names of Saint-Estèphe, standing alongside Cos d'Estournel among the region’s elite estates. Its origins date back to the late 18th century, when it was separated from Château Calon-Ségur, and it was classified as a 2nd Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Known for producing powerful, ageworthy wines, Montrose has earned a devoted following among critics and collectors worldwide, with 2009 regarded as one of its legendary vintages.
