Château Palmer 1989

Château Palmer 1989 is one of Margaux’s most celebrated wines, admired for its depth, elegance, and remarkable longevity. Often considered a benchmark vintage for the estate, it combines the perfume and finesse expected of great Bordeaux with a powerful, structured core that has only grown more impressive with time.

In the glass, this 1989 shows a mature garnet core with elegant brick-red edges, reflecting its age and evolution. The nose is beautifully layered, offering red berries, sous-bois, potpourri, and hints of strawberry pastille, with a subtle energy that keeps it vibrant rather than tired. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and silky, with a lively, harmonious feel and a refined, detailed finish. There is still plenty of freshness and lift, with the structure to continue aging gracefully, though it is already drinking at a superb peak for those who enjoy mature Bordeaux.

Under Thomas Duroux, the property has embraced biodynamic farming and a more holistic approach to vinification, reinforcing the estate’s reputation for quality and authenticity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and truffle-rich preparations. It also works well with mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant gently for about 1–2 hours if the bottle is well stored; younger bottles or those showing reduction may benefit from a slightly longer aeration.
