In the glass, Château Palmer 1990 shows the graceful, evolved color expected of a fully mature Bordeaux, with a deep garnet core and softened rim. The bouquet is richly expressive, unfolding with earth, blue and black fruits, licorice, incense, and spice box nuances. On the palate, it is round, silky, and voluptuous, with impressive purity and harmony. The wine remains structured and elegant rather than heavy, showing the refined texture and depth that define the château’s best wines. Fully mature now, it still has enough balance and energy to continue delivering pleasure over the near to medium term.

Château Palmer sits in the Margaux appellation, where gravelly soils and a temperate Atlantic-influenced climate provide ideal conditions for producing wines of perfume, structure, and finesse. While this cuvée is presented as Cabernet Franc-based, Palmer is traditionally known for blends shaped by meticulous vineyard management and careful parcel selection. Harvesting is typically performed by hand, followed by rigorous sorting and vinification designed to preserve aromatic purity, concentration, and the estate’s signature velvety texture.

This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast lamb, duck breast, beef fillet, game birds, or truffle-infused cuisine. It also works well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently if needed, though a mature bottle like this may only require a short decant to remove sediment and open up its aromatics.
