Château Palmer 2011 is a standout Margaux, showing the depth, refinement and length that have made this estate one of Bordeaux’s most admired names. Produced in a more demanding vintage, it impressed with its precision and concentration, offering a blend of power and elegance that has earned it a reputation as one of the wines of the year in the appellation.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, it presents a deep opaque purple-blue color, hinting at its intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of black raspberries, blackcurrants, licorice, truffle, camphor and spring flowers, unfolding beautifully with air. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, remarkably pure and concentrated, with a long, seamless finish and a very polished structure. The combination of ripe fruit, savory complexity and balanced tannins suggests excellent aging potential, with the wine expected to evolve gracefully over many years.
The 2011 vintage shows impressive freshness and focus, with the Cabernet Sauvignon bringing structure, aromatic lift and depth. Even in a challenging year, the wine maintains a sense of precision and finesse that allows its darker fruit and earthy nuances to shine through.
Viininvalmistus
Château Palmer is situated in Margaux, one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated terroirs, where gravelly soils and a temperate Atlantic influence help produce wines of fragrance, finesse and structure. The estate achieved tiny yields of around 20 hectoliters per hectare in 2011, with a highly selective approach in the vineyard and winery; only about 55% of the production was included in the grand vin. The final blend for the vintage was 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting the estate’s careful selection and commitment to quality.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that can match its intensity and complexity, such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, or mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with aged cheeses and richly flavored, slow-cooked meats. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine खुल fully and soften its structure.

Long regarded as one of the finest châteaux in Margaux and a serious rival to Château Margaux itself, Palmer has built its reputation on exceptional consistency and quality. Since the 1960s, the estate has been known for producing wines of remarkable depth and longevity, and under Thomas Duroux, who joined in 2006, it has taken a major step forward with biodynamic conversion and a strong focus on biodiversity. Today, Château Palmer is celebrated worldwide for wines that are powerful, distinctive and built for the cellar.
