Château Pontet-Canet 2010

Château Pontet-Canet 2010 is a striking Pauillac that combines impressive power with remarkable finesse. Widely regarded as one of the estate’s greatest modern vintages, it stands out for its deep fruit concentration, refined structure, and its historic distinction as the first Pontet-Canet vintage certified 100% organic and biodynamic.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep carmine color with nearly black reflections. The nose is highly complex and expressive, offering violet, blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry, layered with remarkable freshness and depth. On the palate, the wine is sleek yet commanding, with a precise framework, silky texture, and aristocratic tannins that carry the fruit through a very long finish. It balances ripe, brilliant fruit with freshness and elegance, making it a wine with excellent aging potential that will continue to evolve beautifully over many years.

Viininvalmistus
The 2010 vintage began slightly later than usual, and unsettled weather during flowering reduced berry set, particularly in older Merlot parcels. A long stretch of sun and dryness before harvest then brought perfect ripening conditions, resulting in a concentrated and outstanding crop. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot reflects the classic Pauillac terroir, where gravelly soils and a favorable Atlantic-influenced climate support structured, age-worthy wines. The estate’s biodynamic farming and careful vinification aim to express the vineyard’s character with precision and purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is ideal with classic rich dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, game, or duck breast, as well as mushroom-based preparations and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open and soften its tannins.
