Château Pontet-Canet 2016 Magnum is a standout Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most forward-thinking estates. From a highly acclaimed vintage, it combines the power and structure expected of great Médoc wine with the refinement, purity, and depth that have made Pontet-Canet a benchmark for biodynamic winemaking in the region.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose is layered and inviting, with ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum at the forefront, followed by cedar, tobacco, smoke, dried herbs, and subtle notes of vanilla and cocoa from careful oak maturation. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet remarkably balanced, with finely woven tannins and vibrant acidity giving it both structure and freshness. Dark fruit, earthy complexity, and a mineral edge unfold into a long, persistent finish marked by spice, roasted oak, and a touch of salinity. While already impressive, this magnum has excellent aging potential and should continue to gain nuance and finesse over the coming decades.

Viininvalmistus
Château Pontet-Canet is based in Pauillac, where gravel-rich soils and the classic Left Bank terroir provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate is farmed biodynamically, with a strong focus on preserving vineyard balance and expressing site character. Harvesting is carried out with great care to ensure only perfectly ripe fruit is selected, and vinification is designed to maintain purity, structure, and aromatic complexity, followed by thoughtful oak aging.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, slow-braised lamb, venison, or beef wellington. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses like Comté or Manchego. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
