Château Pontet-Canet 2019

Château Pontet-Canet 2019 is a standout Pauillac that captures everything wine lovers admire about great Bordeaux: depth, precision, and unmistakable class. Crafted with the estate’s biodynamic approach, it combines power and purity in a way that feels both modern and true to its historic Left Bank roots, making it one of the most compelling recent releases from this celebrated château.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby colour that hints at its concentration and structure. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, plum, and a touch of cherry, followed by smoky cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle notes of vanilla and dark chocolate from oak ageing. The palate is intense yet refined, with a strong frame of fine, silky tannins and excellent freshness. Dark fruit and earthy mineral tones are balanced by a gentle spice and a long, persistent finish of roasted oak, cocoa, and warm spice. While already impressive, this is a wine built for the cellar and should continue to evolve beautifully over the coming decades.

Viininvalmistus
From Pauillac in Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Pontet-Canet benefits from gravel-rich soils that naturally favour Cabernet Sauvignon and support the estate’s blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The biodynamic viticultural approach is central to the estate’s identity, helping preserve balance, vitality, and a strong sense of place. Grapes are harvested with care and vinified to emphasize purity, structure, and the natural expression of the vintage, followed by ageing in oak to add complexity without masking the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for richly flavoured dishes such as grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, braised beef, venison, or other game meats. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses like Comté or Manchego. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for one to two hours is recommended if enjoying it young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
