Château Pontet-Canet 2021

Château Pontet-Canet 2021 is a distinguished Pauillac red that reflects both the precision and resilience of one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it combines classical structure with remarkable freshness and elegance. The 2021 vintage was shaped by an exceptionally early growing cycle and demanding weather conditions, making the wine a compelling expression of skillful vineyard management and careful harvest timing.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep color with garnet reflections. The nose is precise and complex, opening with cedar, blackcurrant, graphite and spice. On the palate, it is notably creamy, spicy and elegant, with well-integrated tannins that support the mid-palate and bring both density and length. Layers of oak, chocolate, cedar and dark fruit lead into a smoky, floral finish. The wine has the structure to age gracefully, with its balance of ripeness, freshness and firm tannins suggesting strong development in bottle over time.

Viininvalmistus
The 2021 growing season at Pontet-Canet began early, with budbreak in mid-March after a very mild February, followed by a period of cold weather that required protective vineyard work. Flowering took place on 24 May, and véraison began on 19 July. Ripening was slow but steady, with Merlot harvested from 24 September and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot starting from 4 October, all picked with close attention to the unusual synchronisation of the grape varieties.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, game birds, duck breast and mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and rich, truffle-inflected cuisine. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 1-2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to खुल fully.
