Château Rocheyron 2011

Château Rocheyron 2011 is an elegant Saint-Émilion Bordeaux that already showed remarkable balance and purity in only its second vintage under the estate’s new ownership. Built primarily on Merlot, with Cabernet Franc adding lift and structure, it reflects both old-vine depth and a distinctly modern, precision-driven approach rooted in respect for the terroir.

Makuprofiili
Deep ruby in the glass, this wine opens with a fragrant, refined bouquet of dark cherry, blackcurrant and graphite, followed by subtle layers of violet, cedar and tobacco. On the palate, it is silky and poised, with ripe fruit framed by a firm limestone-driven grip that gives the wine classical Saint-Émilion elegance and definition. The finish is long, fresh and composed, showing impressive harmony between fruit, minerality and oak. While already beautifully expressive, the wine has the structure and balance to continue developing gracefully over time, gaining further nuance with age.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from old vines rooted in limestone and clay soils, a terroir that lends the wine its tension, finesse and mineral edge. Vineyard work is carried out with great care and minimal intervention, and the fruit is harvested with precision to preserve freshness and aromatic clarity, especially important in the warm, early 2011 season. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in concrete tanks, after which the wine is aged in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak, always with a restrained hand to keep the fruit at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromatics and texture to fully open.

Château Rocheyron is a relatively young name in Saint-Émilion, but it quickly established a reputation for precision, purity and terroir expression under its new stewardship. The estate has become notable for its meticulous vineyard work and refined winemaking, helping it stand out in one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious appellations. The 2011 vintage, as one of the first under the new era, already signaled the house style and the quality ambitions that would define the estate.
