Château Rocheyron 2016 (OWC3)

Château Rocheyron 2016 is a refined Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux, crafted by Peter Sisseck in partnership with Silvio Denz. Built on a classic Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Franc, it stands out for its balance of power, elegance, and the depth that comes from old vines grown on limestone and clay soils.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Château Rocheyron 2016 shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe blackberries, cherry, violet, spice, and subtle toasted notes from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is rich yet poised, with supple, ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a silky texture that keeps everything beautifully in balance. The finish is long and harmonious, leaving behind lingering dark fruit and a distinct mineral edge. While enjoyable now with decanting, it has excellent aging potential and should gain even more nuance and complexity over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The vineyards of Château Rocheyron sit on classic Saint-Émilion terroir, where old vines rooted in limestone and clay bring both structure and finesse to the wine. The grapes are carefully harvested to preserve quality, and the wine is vinified with an emphasis on precision and respect for the character of the fruit, followed by oak maturation to add complexity without overpowering the wine’s elegant core.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is an excellent match for grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting before serving to allow the aromas and texture to open fully, especially if enjoying it young.
