Château Rocheyron 2020

Château Rocheyron 2020 is a refined Bordeaux built around Merlot and Cabernet Franc, combining rich fruit with the kind of finesse and freshness that mark the best wines from Saint-Émilion. Crafted by Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz, it reflects a modern, terroir-driven approach, with careful parcel-by-parcel vinification and a light oak touch to preserve purity of fruit. The estate’s ambition is rooted in a historic vineyard site, now being shaped into a more expressive and precise expression of Bordeaux.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a wine of vibrant, polished color and immediate aromatic depth. The nose is layered with ripe cherries, blackcurrants, wild strawberries, and a floral lift of rosehip and perfume-like nuances that become more complex with air. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant, and beautifully balanced, with supple tannins and a lively core of red and black fruit. The oak is discreet, adding texture rather than dominance, and the finish feels long, precise, and increasingly nuanced as the wine opens. It has the structure and harmony to age gracefully, developing even more complexity over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from just over 8 hectares of vineyard planted on a site with varied soils, and the fruit is vinified in seven cement tanks and three stainless-steel tanks sized to match the differences in the estate’s terroir. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, and the wine is matured for 15 months in barrel, with only 35% new oak to protect the fruit character. It is bottled without prior fining or filtration, allowing the wine to retain its natural texture and expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as hard, aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for 1–2 hours before serving to soften the texture and let the aromatic profile unfold more fully.

Château Rocheyron is the result of a partnership between Peter Sisseck, best known for his groundbreaking work in Ribera del Duero, and Silvio Denz, the entrepreneur behind Lalique and a passionate collector and investor in fine wine. The estate was founded in 2009 after they acquired a vineyard bordering Château Laroque in Saint-Émilion, a site with a long history of viticulture. Today, Rocheyron stands out for its thoughtful, quality-focused approach and its commitment to a gradual conversion to organic farming, with the aim of fully revealing the site’s potential over time.
