In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dense ruby-red color that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark berries, spice, tobacco, and a subtle touch of liquorice, with the warmth of the southern Rhône adding extra complexity. On the palate, Clos des Papes 2016 is rich and concentrated, yet polished, with ripe fruit carried by soft tannins and a long, persistent finish. Notes of pepper, cherry, and Mediterranean herbs give the wine its classic southern French character, while its structure suggests excellent aging potential over many years.

Clos des Papes is sourced from carefully selected vineyard parcels in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the region’s sun-drenched terroir, stony soils, and warm Mediterranean climate provide ideal conditions for Grenache and the traditional blend components. The grapes are hand-harvested to preserve quality and ensure only the best fruit is used. Vinification follows a meticulous approach designed to retain balance, concentration, and the expressive character of the appellation.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is an excellent match for rich meat dishes, game, grilled lamb, and mature cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic depth and structure. Decanting for one to two hours is recommended, especially if the wine is enjoyed young, to allow the aromas and flavors to open fully.
