Cloudy Bay Te Wāhi 2021 is a captivating Marlborough red that brings together depth, elegance, and a strong sense of place. Named "the place" in te reo Māori, it reflects Cloudy Bay’s ability to craft a wine with both power and finesse, shaped by a thoughtful blend of contrasting terroirs and a style that has helped define modern New Zealand Pinot Noir.

In the glass, Te Wāhi 2021 shows a dark, alluring fruit profile with boysenberry, ripe plum, and juicy cherry at the core. These aromas are layered with dark chocolate, kirsch, fresh crushed mint, warm spice, and subtle forest-floor notes, giving the wine real dimension and aromatic complexity. The palate is precise and vibrant, with bright acidity carrying flavors of damson plum, dark stone fruit, and a touch of coffee-like depth. Silky tannins provide a luxurious texture and a long, polished finish. This is a wine with immediate appeal, but also the structure and balance to age gracefully over the next decade.

Viininvalmistus
Te Wāhi is sourced from two contrasting vineyard parcels, each contributing a different expression of Central Otago terroir. Northburn’s steep, stony, glacial soils lend structure and intensity, while Calvert in Bannockburn, with its ancient lake-bed soils, brings more perfume, generosity, and lifted fruit. Cloudy Bay works with a gentle vinification approach that emphasizes purity and texture while preserving the individual character of each site.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with lamb, venison, mushrooms, and rich winter dishes where its dark fruit and fine tannins can shine. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if you want the wine to open up further in youth.
