Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Inspiration 2016 Magnum

Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Inspiration 2016 Magnum is an exceptionally rare luxury cuvée, produced only in outstanding vintages and limited to just 300 magnums. Often spoken about in the same breath as the great wines of the Rhône, it represents the pinnacle of Domaine du Pegau’s uncompromising style and heritage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine is deeply colored, almost ink-black, with a vivid purple sheen at the rim. The nose is remarkably intense and layered, with waves of ripe black plum, blackberry, freshly ground pepper, licorice, smoked meat, truffle, crème de cassis, violet, and classic Provençal herbs. On the palate, it is immensely concentrated yet beautifully poised, delivering dark fruit, spice, and savory depth in perfect balance. The finish is famously long and persistent, with the structure and complexity to reward decades of aging. This is a wine built for the long haul and one that should evolve magnificently over time.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Inspiration is crafted from a highly selective blend drawn from three different vineyard sites, with Grenache making up around 70%, Syrah about 7%, Mourvèdre 3%, and the remaining 20% composed of ten other grape varieties. Laurence Féraud takes an almost microscopic approach to selection, choosing only the best fruit for this exceptional bottling. The whole clusters are pressed and fermented for around 10 days in cement vats with native yeasts, followed by two years of maturation in carefully selected old oak barrels, with minimal intervention throughout.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with richly flavored dishes such as roasted lamb, game, beef fillet, braised short ribs, or truffle-infused cuisine. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses and classic Provençal dishes. Serve at 16-18°C, and decanting for several hours is highly recommended to allow the wine to fully open, especially in its youth.
