Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence 2012 Magnum is a compelling tribute to the traditional style of the southern Rhône, crafted for those who appreciate depth, patience, and classic winemaking. Created by Laurence Féraud, this cuvée is inspired by the old way of making Châteauneuf-du-Pape—long aging in large wooden casks, allowing the wine to evolve slowly and gracefully before release.

In the glass, this 2012 Magnum shows the kind of richness and maturity that makes Châteauneuf-du-Pape so distinctive. The nose opens with dark plums, red cherries, leather, apricot, and cocoa, leading into a palate where ripe dark fruit is layered with warm chestnuts, bay leaf, tobacco, and thyme. The wine has an expressive, evolving profile that should continue to gain complexity with time in bottle. Thanks to its generous structure and extended aging, it offers excellent aging potential and promises even more nuance as it develops.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Laurence is made from 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, plus 10 other grape varieties included in the same blend as Réservée. The pressing and fermentation follow the same approach as the estate’s Réservée cuvée, but the crucial difference is in maturation: this wine spends a full four years aging in large oak vats, echoing the traditional methods once used for great wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The long élevage gives Grenache the extra time it often needs to gain complexity, balance, and finesse.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for rich, savory dishes such as lamb, beef stew, game, roasted duck, or herb-crusted pork. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses and Mediterranean dishes featuring thyme, rosemary, and grilled vegetables. Serve at 16-18°C and decant for at least 1-2 hours to allow the wine to fully open, especially if enjoyed young.
