In the glass, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape shows a deep, dark ruby hue. The nose is expressive and layered, with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme, gradually opening to reveal leather and sandalwood with time in the glass. The palate is rich and concentrated, with plenty of dark fruit framed by clove, white pepper, and those signature herbal notes from the aromatics. Despite its intensity, the wine keeps a sense of balance and precision, delivering both breadth and elegance. The 2012 Cuvée Réservée is built to evolve beautifully, gaining complexity over the next 5 years and continuing to drink at a very high level for 20 to 25 years.

Viininvalmistus
The wine comes from the stony, sun-drenched terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rhône, where warm conditions and old vines help produce wines of exceptional concentration. At Domaine du Pégaü, the grapes are pressed as whole clusters, and fermentation takes place in cement vats without the addition of yeast, preserving purity and a distinctly traditional character. The wine is then aged for two years in used oak barrels, allowing structure and complexity to develop without masking the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as lamb shank, beef stew, roasted game, duck confit, or herb-crusted meats. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses and Mediterranean dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, or black olives. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended for at least 1–2 hours to help the wine open fully and show its depth.
