Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2015 Magnum is a benchmark Rhône red with serious pedigree, generous scale, and outstanding value for a wine of this level. Built from 13 grape varieties and led by around 80% Grenache, it combines depth, spice, and old-school southern Rhône character in a magnum format that will reward both immediate enjoyment and long cellaring. The 2015 vintage is particularly celebrated in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for its concentration, balance, and ageing potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a deeply coloured wine with a saturated ruby-to-garnet core that hints at its richness and structure. The nose opens with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and a fresh herbal lift of rosemary and thyme, followed by more savory notes of leather and sandalwood as it opens up. On the palate, it delivers impressive power without losing finesse: dark fruit is framed by clove, white pepper, and the same Provençal herbs that define the aromatics. The wine is layered, warm, and expansive, with the kind of concentration that suggests a long life ahead. While already compelling, it should continue to improve over the next 5 years and hold beautifully for up to 20 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Réservée is sourced from Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards with the varied soils and sun-soaked climate that make the southern Rhône so distinctive, where Grenache thrives alongside Mourvèdre, Syrah, and the other permitted local varieties. The grapes are harvested and vinified with a traditional approach: the whole clusters are pressed, fermentation takes place in cement vats with no added yeast, and the wine is then matured for two years in used oak barrels to preserve purity while adding complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for roasted lamb, game, beef ribeye, duck confit, or Provençal dishes seasoned with rosemary and thyme. It also works well with hearty mushroom dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the aromatics and structure unfold more fully.
