Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2016 Magnum is one of the benchmark wines of the Southern Rhône, revered for its depth, structure, and exceptional value in a grand format. Crafted from a traditional blend of 13 grape varieties and led by a Grenache-dominant core, it captures both the power and complexity that have made Pégau a favorite among serious Rhône enthusiasts.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration and age-worthy character. The nose is richly layered with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and lifted notes of fresh rosemary and thyme, gradually opening to reveal leather and sandalwood with time in the glass. The palate is full-bodied and expressive, combining dark fruit richness with impressive finesse and detail. Notes of clove, white pepper, and Provençal herbs carry through the long finish, supported by firm but polished tannins. This is a wine built for the long haul, and while it will continue to improve over the next 5 years, it should remain in top form for up to 20 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Réservée is sourced from the classic terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where sun-drenched vineyards, galets roulés, and a mix of clay and sand help produce grapes with concentration and balance. For the 2016 vintage, the grapes were harvested and vinified with a traditional, hands-on approach: whole clusters were pressed, fermentation took place in cement tanks with no added yeast, and the wine was then aged for two years in used oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for rich, flavorful dishes such as roast lamb, beef daube, game, duck confit, and herb-crusted meats, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatic complexity and structure to fully open up.
