Domaine du Pégau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2018 is one of the appellation’s most celebrated bottlings, and in this impressive 1200 cl format it becomes a true collector’s piece. Built around a Grenache-dominant blend from 13 grape varieties, it captures the rustic power, depth, and old-world character that have made Pégau a benchmark name in the Southern Rhône.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark ruby hue hinting at its concentration and intensity. The nose opens with blackberries, dark plums, black tea, black pepper, and fresh Mediterranean herbs like rosemary and thyme, with more time revealing leather and sandalwood. On the palate, it is broad, powerful, and finely balanced, delivering layers of dark fruit, clove, white pepper, and the herbal tones first found on the nose. The 2018 vintage has the structure and freshness to age beautifully, and this wine should continue to improve over the next 5 years while holding at a very high level for 20–25 years.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the warm, sun-soaked Rhône terroir and stony soils help build richness, maturity, and intensity. Laurence Féraud follows the same traditional approach used for the estate’s top wine Da Capo: whole clusters are pressed, fermentation takes place in cement vats with native yeasts, and the wine is then matured for two years in used oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
A wine of this depth calls for equally flavourful dishes such as roast lamb, venison, game birds, beef stew, grilled ribeye, or Provençal dishes with herbs and garlic. Serve at around 16–18°C, and while decanting is not absolutely essential, it is highly recommended to let the wine open up and show its full aromatic complexity.
