Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2019 is one of the appellation’s most celebrated wines, prized by collectors for its depth, structure, and unmistakable old-school Rhône character. Made from a traditional blend of 13 grape varieties and led by Grenache, it captures both power and finesse in a style that has earned the cuvée a loyal following around the world.

In the glass, this 2019 shows a deep, dark hue that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose opens with blackberry, ripe dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme, gradually unfolding into more complex notes of leather and sandalwood with air. The palate is full-bodied and layered, delivering rich dark fruit wrapped around spice, clove, white pepper, and the same herbal freshness found on the nose. Despite its muscular presence, the wine retains impressive balance and detail, and it has excellent aging potential; while it will improve over the next 5 years, it is built to evolve beautifully over the next 20 to 25 years.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Réservée is traditionally crafted from 13 permitted grape varieties, with approximately 80% Grenache at its core. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented in cement tanks with no added yeast, a method that helps preserve authenticity and terroir expression. After fermentation, the wine is aged for around two years in used oak barrels, adding subtle complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The result is a wine that reflects the warmth, stony character, and herbal landscape of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for hearty dishes such as roast lamb, slow-braised beef, game, grilled duck, or richly seasoned stews. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and Mediterranean dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, or black olives. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatic complexity and layered structure to fully open up.
