Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2021 Magnum is one of the appellation’s most iconic wines, prized by collectors for its depth, structure, and remarkable aging capacity. Built around a Grenache-led blend of 13 grape varieties, it captures the soul of classic southern Rhône winemaking with impressive power and finesse in a format that promises even greater evolution in bottle.

In the glass, this wine shows a deep, dark core with the richness you’d expect from a top-tier Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The nose opens with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and fresh Mediterranean herbs like rosemary and thyme, before unfolding into leather and sandalwood with a little air. On the palate, it is generous and muscular, yet balanced by striking freshness and detail. Layers of dark fruit, clove, white pepper, rosemary, and thyme create a long, savory finish. This is a wine with serious cellaring potential: approachable with patience now, but it will continue to gain complexity over the next 5 years and can comfortably age for 20 to 25 years or more.

Viininvalmistus
Cuvée Réservée is made from a blend of 13 grape varieties, with around 80% Grenache at its core, sourced from the stony, sun-drenched terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters, then fermented in concrete vats with native yeasts, preserving the wine’s authenticity and sense of place. It is aged for around two years in used oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop depth and texture without overt oak influence.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as roast lamb, beef short ribs, game, duck confit, or herb-crusted grilled meats. It also pairs beautifully with Provençal cuisine, especially dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, olives, and slow-cooked vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine fully open up.
