Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réservée 2016 is one of the Rhône Valley’s most celebrated benchmarks, crafted from a traditional blend of 13 grape varieties, led by Grenache. Produced in a striking 300cl format and delivered in its original wooden case, this is a wine with both collectible appeal and serious cellar-worthy substance. The 2016 vintage is particularly praised for combining impressive power with remarkable finesse.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape shows a deep, dark color that hints at its concentration and ripeness. The nose opens with blackberry, black plum, black tea, black pepper, and fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme, gradually unfolding into leather and sandalwood with time in the glass. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, delivering layers of dark fruit, clove, white pepper, and savory Mediterranean herbs. Despite its intensity, the wine retains impressive balance and elegance, with a long aging potential—easily improving over the next 5 years and holding at a very high level for up to 20 years.

Viininvalmistus
Domaine du Pegau’s Réservée is made in a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape style, from a blend dominated by approximately 80% Grenache and supported by other traditional varieties. The grapes come from the stony, sun-drenched terroir of the Southern Rhône, where low yields and warm conditions help produce ripe, concentrated fruit. The whole clusters are pressed, fermentation takes place in cement vats without added yeasts, and the wine is then aged for two years in older oak barrels to preserve purity and structure.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for rich dishes such as roast lamb, beef stew, game, duck, and herb-crusted meats, as well as hearty mushroom dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine’s aromatic layers and savory complexity to fully open.
