Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réservée 2020 is a classic benchmark from one of the region’s most admired estates. Built around a Grenache-dominant blend, with Mourvèdre and Syrah adding depth and structure, it delivers the power, complexity, and age-worthy character that have made this cuvée a favorite among Rhône lovers.

In the glass, this is a deeply colored, насыщенный red with impressive concentration. The nose opens with blackberry, dark plum, black tea, black pepper, and a distinctly Mediterranean lift of fresh rosemary and thyme; with air, notes of leather and sandalwood begin to emerge, adding layers of nuance. The palate is expansive and full of energy, combining dark fruit intensity with finesse and spice. Clove, white pepper, and those herbal tones from the nose carry through beautifully, giving the wine both warmth and definition. While already expressive, it has excellent aging potential and should continue to improve over the next 5 years, with a long drinking window of 20–25 years.

Viininvalmistus
Réservée is sourced from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the stony, sun-drenched terroir gives wines their signature breadth, ripeness, and herbal complexity. The blend includes 13 grape varieties, though it is clearly led by around 80% Grenache. At Domaine du Pegau, the clusters are pressed whole and fermentation takes place in cement tanks with no added yeast, followed by around two years of maturation in used oak barrels, a traditional approach that preserves purity and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for rich, savory dishes such as roast lamb, game, slow-braised beef, venison, or herb-crusted pork. It also works beautifully with Provençal cuisine, mature hard cheeses, and hearty mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to fully open.
