From one of Italy’s most iconic producers comes a Barolo that combines depth, finesse, and unmistakable terroir character. Gaja Dagromis Barolo 2019 brings together refined fruit, firm Barolo structure, and impressive ageing potential, making it an appealing choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Named in tribute to the Dagromis family, the historic owners of the vineyards, it reflects both heritage and the precision for which Gaja is renowned.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Dagromis Barolo 2019 shows the classic allure of Nebbiolo: a translucent garnet hue with youthful brightness at the rim. The bouquet is layered and expressive, opening with violets and rose petals before moving into ripe cherry, raspberry compote, liquorice, camphor, and a subtle touch of spicy oak. The palate is elegant yet firmly built, with long-lasting flavour, balanced acidity, and finely textured tannins that give the wine its unmistakable Barolo shape. Red citrus, mint, tobacco, and a mineral edge carry through the finish, which is persistent and refined. While already showing impressive harmony, this is a wine with the structure and concentration to develop beautifully over many years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Gaja-owned parcels in La Morra, especially Cerquio and Silio, as well as Serralunga d’Alba, where limestone and clay soils provide both power and freshness. The grapes are harvested with care and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel over roughly three weeks, preserving purity and site expression. Ageing continues for 12 months in barriques, around 30% of them new, followed by a further 12 months in large traditional botti, a combination that helps integrate tannins and acidity while maintaining the wine’s classical Barolo structure.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Barolo is an excellent match for rich, flavourful dishes such as braised beef, veal shank, game birds, truffle risotto, and mature hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno. Serve at 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic detail and layered structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to allow the wine to open fully and soften its firm tannins.
