Hartford Fanucchi Zinfandel 2018

Hartford Fanucchi Zinfandel 2018 is a richly styled Russian River Valley Zinfandel made from fruit sourced from five old-vine parcels, with vines averaging over 100 years of age. Produced in very limited quantities, it combines impressive concentration with balance, showing the depth and character that have made old-vine California Zinfandel such a sought-after classic.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark color that hints at its intensity. The nose opens with fresh blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, boysenberry, spice, and a subtle leather nuance, giving it both ripeness and lift. On the palate, it leans into blackberry, mocha, nutmeg, and cinnamon, before finishing with notes of licorice and freshly ground pepper. Despite its 16% alcohol, the wine remains well integrated and expressive rather than heavy. This is a Zinfandel with plenty of immediate appeal, but it should also hold well over the next five years, where its spice and dark fruit character will continue to evolve.

Viininvalmistus
The wine is made from Zinfandel grown in the Russian River Valley, one of California’s most distinctive cool-climate regions, where old vines naturally produce very low yields and concentrated fruit. The grapes come from five different vineyards, all with vines over a century old on average, which contributes to the wine’s layered complexity and depth. After harvest, the wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, with just under half of them new, and it was bottled without fining or filtration to preserve its full texture and character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Zinfandel pairs beautifully with grilled or slow-cooked meats, barbecue, braised short ribs, pepper-crusted steak, and richly flavored dishes with a touch of sweetness or spice. It also works well with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking young, as this will help the aromas open and soften the wine’s structure.
