Hartford Russian River Zinfandel 2019

Hartford Russian River Zinfandel 2019 is a standout expression of old-vine Sonoma County Zinfandel, sourced from five different vineyards with vines averaging more than 100 years of age. Concentrated yet balanced, it delivers the generous character Zinfandel is known for, while the high alcohol is woven into the wine rather than pushing it to the forefront.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Zinfandel shows a deep, dark color that signals its intensity. The nose opens with fresh blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, boysenberry, spice, and a subtle leather note, creating a layered and inviting aromatic profile. The palate is rich and expansive, with blackberry at the core, supported by mocha, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The finish turns toward liquorice and freshly ground black pepper, adding lift and complexity. It drinks beautifully now and should continue to develop well over the next five years.

Viininvalmistus
This wine is made from fruit drawn from five Russian River Valley vineyards, where the old vines naturally produce low yields and highly concentrated grapes. Winemaker Jeff Stewart aged the wine for 16 months in French oak barrels, with just under half of them new, and bottled it without fining or filtration to preserve its character and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Pair this powerful Zinfandel with grilled or roasted meats, barbecue ribs, braised short ribs, peppered steak, or rich dishes with spice and smoke. It also works well with aged cheeses and hearty mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for about an hour is recommended to let the wine open fully.
