L'Aventure Cote á Cote 2020

L'Aventure Cote à Cote 2020 is a serious, Rhône-inspired red from Paso Robles that shows just how far California can push this classic blend. Crafted by French winemaker Stephan Asseo, it combines Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from the estate’s prized vineyard, where limestone-rich soils and maritime influence help give the wine its depth, structure, and precision.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it pours a deep dark purple, hinting at the richness to come. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of blueberry, blood orange, tar, smoked meat, violets, black pepper, and spring flowers. On the palate, this is full-bodied and strikingly complex, unfolding in wave after wave of flavour before finishing with remarkable length. The blend’s ripe fruit, savoury spice, and mineral drive give it both power and elegance, while its concentration and structure suggest excellent aging potential over the next 15 years.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from L'Aventure’s estate vineyard in Paso Robles, where low-yielding vines grow in highly calcareous soils shaped by maritime influence. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted by hand to preserve only the best fruit. After fermentation, the wine is matured for 14 months in a mix of 1-year-old French oak, new French oak, cement tank, and amphora, creating a balance between oak influence, purity, and texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that shines alongside rich, flavour-packed dishes such as grilled lamb, braised short ribs, duck confit, or herb-crusted game. It also works beautifully with charred vegetables and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if possible to let the wine open fully.
