Michel Guignier Morgon Vieilles Vignes 2024 is a characterful old-vine Beaujolais made from 100% Gamay, grown in the heart of Morgon on vines over 60 years old. With low yields, biodynamic farming, and hand harvesting, it offers impressive depth, purity, and value. Morgon has long been one of Beaujolais’ most distinctive cru vineyards, known for producing wines with more structure and ageing potential than the region’s lighter styles.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows the bright, translucent ruby tone typical of quality Gamay, but with a little more concentration behind it. The nose is layered and inviting, with dark and red cherries, cocoa, grilled chicken, thyme, earthy notes, and a gentle hint of smoke. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with juicy raspberry and cherry fruit supported by granite-driven minerality and a fine, energetic texture. The wine has enough structure to develop nicely over the next few years, while remaining delicious in its youthful, fruit-driven phase.

Viininvalmistus
The vines are planted in the Morgon cru, where decomposed granite contributes to the wine’s lifted mineral profile and fine tension. Michel Guignier works biodynamically, harvests entirely by hand, and keeps yields low to intensify flavour and concentration. The grapes are pressed whole, and the juice matures on the skins in cement tank, with indigenous fermentations and only minimal sulphur used when necessary.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roast chicken, grilled poultry, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, and lighter game, as well as simple fare like lentils or a rustic cheese board. Serve slightly chilled, around 14–16°C, and decanting is not essential, though a short aeration can help the wine open up if served young.
