Opus One 2019

Opus One 2019 is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic luxury reds, a wine that brings together Bordeaux tradition and California power in a single, highly sought-after bottle. This vintage shows the house style at its most refined, with remarkable depth, precision and elegance, underpinned by Cabernet Franc as part of the classic Opus One blend. First born from the partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One has long stood as a benchmark for American fine wine.

Deep garnet-purple in the glass, Opus One 2019 opens with an expressive bouquet of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, mulberries and fresh blackcurrants, layered with licorice, wilted roses, Sichuan pepper and a subtle iron-ore character. It is immediately impressive and beautifully complex, with plenty of aromatic lift and concentration. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and richly textured, delivering waves of juicy black, blue and red fruit wrapped in velvety tannins and a line of freshness that keeps everything in balance. The finish turns more earthy and mineral, adding dimension and length. While already showing real grandeur as a barrel sample, it has the structure and depth to evolve gracefully over many years in cellar.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for Opus One come from four unique parcels in the Oakville district of Napa Valley, a terroir especially well suited to Bordeaux varieties thanks to its warm climate, excellent drainage and ability to ripen fruit with both power and finesse. Harvesting is done by hand, with rigorous sorting in the vineyard and again in the cellar after destemming. The wine spends 18 days on skin during fermentation before being aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels and clarified with fresh egg whites before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine made for richly flavored dishes such as beef tenderloin, ribeye, lamb with rosemary, duck breast, wild mushroom risotto or aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C to let the structure and aromatics fully unfold. Decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to soften the tannins and reveal the wine’s full aromatic complexity.
