Opus One 2021

Opus One 2021 is one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious red wines, born from the legendary partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. This Bordeaux-inspired blend combines power, precision, and elegance, with Cabernet Sauvignon at the core and supporting layers of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. Crafted from carefully selected fruit grown in Opus One’s acclaimed Oakville vineyards, it reflects both the character of its terroir and the vision behind one of California’s most iconic wines.

In the glass, Opus One 2021 shows deep, concentrated color, hinting at the wine’s richness and structure. The nose opens with ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and dark berry aromas, followed by notes of cocoa, spice, subtle smoke, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate, it is intense yet beautifully balanced, with full tannins, vibrant acidity, and a layered texture that carries flavors of black fruit, tobacco, spice, and toasted oak into a long, polished finish. While already impressive in its youth, this is a wine built for aging. Over the next 15 to 20 years, it is expected to develop greater depth, finesse, and complexity, with the fruit slowly integrating into its tertiary notes of earth, leather, and cedar.

Viininvalmistus
Opus One 2021 is sourced from the producer’s prized vineyards in Oakville, Napa Valley, where warm days, cool nights, and well-drained soils create ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. The grapes are harvested with meticulous care to preserve freshness and precision, then vinified to emphasize purity, structure, and balance. The wine spends around 18 months maturing in French oak barrels, allowing the different varieties to integrate while adding subtle spice, texture, and refinement.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that pairs beautifully with premium cuts of beef, lamb, venison, duck breast, and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffle. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and rich, savory sauces. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended to let the wine open up and show its full aromatic and textural complexity.
