Philippe Pacalet’s Puligny-Montrachet 2020 Magnum is a refined expression of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated white wine villages. Crafted in magnum format, it offers the added benefit of slower, more graceful aging, making it especially appealing for collectors and lovers of precise, terroir-driven white Burgundy. Makuprofiili
In the glass, expect a bright, pale gold colour with excellent clarity. The nose is typically restrained yet complex, offering aromas of citrus zest, white flowers, green pear, chalk, and subtle toasted nut nuances as the wine opens.
On the palate, this is likely to be taut, refined, and mineral-driven, with a precise line of acidity balancing the wine’s texture and depth. Layers of lemon, orchard fruit, wet stone, and delicate oak framing may appear, leading to a long, elegant finish. The 2020 vintage should have good ageing potential, particularly in magnum, where the wine can develop additional complexity over time.
Viininvalmistus
Sourced from Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune, the wine comes from limestone-rich Burgundy terroir that naturally favours freshness, tension, and finesse in Chardonnay. Philippe Pacalet is known for working with carefully selected fruit and minimal intervention, often harvesting by hand to preserve purity and site expression. Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with fine seafood such as lobster, scallops, sole, or turbot, as well as roast chicken, veal, and creamy mushroom dishes. It is best served slightly chilled at around 10–12°C. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help the wine open up if enjoyed young.
