Pico Maccario Nizza DOCG Tre Roveri 2021 is a compelling expression of Barbera from one of Piedmont’s most distinguished appellations. Crafted from 100% Barbera and matured for 12 months in a combination of large used casks and smaller new oak barrels, it balances freshness, structure, and subtle oak influence with impressive finesse. Nizza is one of the most celebrated styles in Piemonte, known for elevating Barbera into something deep, elegant, and age-worthy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby-red colour that immediately draws the eye. The nose opens with ripe red berries and sun-warmed fruit, followed by delicate hints of spice and oak that add complexity without overpowering the wine’s natural vibrancy. On the palate, it is smooth and generously fruited, with juicy red berry flavours wrapped around a refined structure and subtle barrel notes. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a fresh yet layered impression that makes you want another sip. This is a wine with good aging potential, and it should continue to gain depth and nuance over the next few years.

Viininvalmistus
Made in the Nizza zone of Piemonte, an area prized for its sandy, calcareous soils and warm microclimate that allow Barbera to ripen fully while retaining its signature freshness. The grapes are vinified to preserve purity of fruit and then aged for 12 months in a mix of large used oak casks and smaller new barrels, a method that combines tradition with modern precision.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with rich Italian dishes such as braised beef, roasted lamb, truffle pasta, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve it at 16–18°C to show its fruit and structure at their best. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to let the aromas open fully.
