Pico Maccario Nizza DOCG Tre Roveri 2021 is a refined expression of Barbera from one of Piedmont’s most celebrated appellations for the grape. Crafted entirely from 100% Barbera and matured for 12 months in a combination of large used oak casks and smaller new barrels, it brings together tradition and modern winemaking with impressive harmony. Nizza is one of the most distinctive styles in Piemonte, known for showing Barbera at its deepest, most structured and age-worthy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows a vivid ruby-red colour that immediately signals its freshness and energy. The nose is generous and inviting, with ripe red berries leading the way, followed by delicate nuances from the oak ageing that add spice, depth and subtle complexity. On the palate, it is smooth and vibrant, with sun-ripened red fruit unfolding across the tongue and supported by fine layers of barrel influence. The finish is long, polished and beautifully persistent, leaving a savoury impression that encourages another sip. With its structure and balance, this is a Barbera that should continue to develop gracefully over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
Pico Maccario’s Tre Roveri comes from the Nizza zone in Piemonte, an area especially suited to Barbera thanks to its warm days, cool nights and soils that help preserve freshness while building concentration. The grapes are carefully harvested and vinified to highlight the variety’s natural intensity and bright acidity, before the wine spends 12 months ageing in both large, previously used oak barrels and smaller new oak casks. This approach adds nuance and texture without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs wonderfully with rich Italian dishes such as braised beef, roast lamb, truffle pasta, mushroom risotto or aged hard cheeses. It also works well with hearty tomato-based recipes, where Barbera’s lively acidity can cut through the richness. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended to help the wine open up fully and show its layered aromatics.
