Pingus 2013

Pingus 2013 is one of the most sought-after expressions of Ribera del Duero, crafted by Dominio de Pingus from old-vine Tempranillo. Produced in extremely limited quantities, it stands out for its finesse, purity, and balance rather than sheer power. Made from fruit from the historic San Cristóbal and Barroso vineyards, it reflects both the heritage of these sites and the meticulous vision of Peter Sisseck.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows an aromatic, expressive nose with a perfumed, open character and a subtle profile that avoids overt oak influence. Fresh spices sit in the background, allowing the clarity of the fruit and floral nuances to take center stage. On the palate, Pingus 2013 is elegant and approachable, with lively acidity, very fine tannins, and a seamless sense of harmony. Despite the challenges of the vintage, it delivers poise and character, and its structure suggests excellent aging potential for those who prefer to cellar it further.

Viininvalmistus
Pingus is sourced from two historic vineyards in Ribera del Duero—San Cristóbal and Barroso—both planted in 1929 with different massale selections of Tempranillo. The old vines and the naturally balanced vineyard parcels helped the fruit perform well in a difficult vintage, highlighting the importance of site and vine age in achieving complexity and consistency. The wine is aged in used barriques, keeping oak influence restrained and allowing the terroir-driven purity of the fruit to shine through.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a fine match for roast lamb, grilled ribeye, slow-braised beef, game, or dishes with earthy elements such as truffle, mushrooms, and aged Manchego. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially if the bottle is opened young, to allow the wine to fully reveal its aromatic detail and silky texture.
