Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 1999 Magnum

Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 1999 Magnum is a superb vintage Champagne created in tribute to one of the house’s most legendary admirers. Built on a generous proportion of Pinot Noir for depth and structure, with Chardonnay adding lift and finesse, it captures the powerful yet refined style Churchill so admired.

In the glass, it shows a beautiful golden hue with a delicate, persistent mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with ripe citrus, mature orchard fruit, brioche, and subtle toasted nuances, all framed by the complexity that comes from extended bottle ageing. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, yet beautifully balanced by freshness and precision. Notes of ripe fruit, citrus zest, and fine autolytic character unfold into a long, elegant finish. This Magnum format offers excellent ageing potential, and the wine should continue to evolve gracefully over time.

Viininvalmistus
Sourced from some of Champagne’s finest vineyard sites, particularly in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, this cuvée reflects carefully selected terroirs known for producing grapes with both power and elegance. The fruit is harvested by hand and vinified using traditional Champagne methods before undergoing long maturation in Pol Roger’s historic cellars, where the Magnum format allows for especially slow and nuanced development.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Champagne at around 8–10°C to bring out its aromatic complexity and structure. It is excellent as an aperitif, but also pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, poultry, or mature cheeses. Decanting is generally not necessary, though allowing it a few minutes in the glass can help reveal its full depth.
