Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2017 is often considered the younger sibling to the legendary Monte Bello, made from the very same estate vineyards but sourced from younger vines. With a near-identical blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and rounded out by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it delivers classic Ridge character in a more approachable, earlier-drinking style. This is a California Cabernet with real pedigree, offering impressive depth, structure, and elegance already in its youth.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a dark, deeply colored core with a subtle purple hue. Aromas rise from the glass in layers of blueberry, cassis, licorice, cola, and a gentle sweetness from the oak. On the palate it is full-bodied and refined, with flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry, freshly roasted coffee beans, pencil lead, and sweet tobacco. Despite its power, the wine keeps a polished, elegant feel that makes it enjoyable now, while still having the structure to age gracefully over the next several years. The oak is present but well integrated, adding depth rather than dominating the fruit.

Viininvalmistus
The Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is drawn from Monte Bello Vineyard in California, one of Ridge’s most important sites, with fruit coming from younger vines than those used for the flagship Monte Bello bottling. All clusters are destemmed before pressing, and after fermentation the wine matures for 20 months in American oak barrels, a little over half of them new. This gives the wine its signature combination of ripe fruit, spice, and sweet oak complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or a classic beef tenderloin with pepper sauce. It also works beautifully with aged cheddar or hard, nutty cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking now to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
