Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2020 37,5CL

Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2020 is the accessible, earlier-drinking counterpart to the iconic Monte Bello, sourced from the same celebrated Monte Bello vineyard but made from younger vines. Built around Cabernet Sauvignon with supporting Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it offers the pedigree of a great California estate wine in a style that is ready to enjoy sooner.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark color with a faint purple rim. The nose is expressive and layered, with notes of blueberry, cassis, licorice, cola, and a gentle sweet oak character. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and elegant Cabernet with flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry, freshly roasted coffee beans, pencil lead, and sweet tobacco. The wine has plenty of structure and concentration, but it is already showing real charm and balance. While enjoyable now, it should also reward additional bottle age over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Monte Bello vineyard in California, one of Ridge’s most important estate sites, with fruit selected from younger vines that naturally give a more approachable style than Monte Bello. All clusters are de-stemmed before pressing, and after fermentation the wine is matured for 20 months in American oak barrels, with a little over half of them new. This élevage adds spice, depth, and a distinctive oak signature to the wine’s classic Cabernet framework.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a great match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 hour if opening it young to help the aromatics unfold and soften the structure.
