Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2021 is often described as the more approachable sibling to the legendary Monte Bello, made from the same acclaimed Monte Bello vineyard but sourced from younger vines. Crafted in a style that stays close to the estate’s iconic blend, it offers Ridge’s signature elegance, structure, and depth, while being ready to enjoy sooner than the flagship wine.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark colour with a violet tint, hinting at its youthful energy and concentration. The nose opens with generous aromas of blueberry, cassis, liquorice, cola, and a gentle sweet oak note from the barrel ageing. The palate is full-bodied and polished, with flavours of ripe blackberry, cherry, freshly roasted coffee beans, pencil lead, and sweet tobacco. It has a refined, elegant feel and a vibrant personality that makes it already very enjoyable, while still having the structure to age well over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the Monte Bello vineyard in California, one of Ridge’s most historic and celebrated sites, with fruit taken from younger vines for the Estate bottling. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed but fermentation takes place with whole berries using native yeasts, reflecting Ridge’s minimal-intervention approach. The wine is then matured for 19 months in air-dried American oak barrels, 50% of which are new, helping to frame the fruit without overwhelming it.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about an hour if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
