Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2018 300CL

Ridge Monte Bello is one of California’s most iconic Bordeaux-style wines, and the 2018 vintage continues that legacy with striking precision and depth. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, it combines powerful structure with remarkable elegance, showing why Monte Bello has been considered a benchmark wine since the early 1960s.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep dark ruby color that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, espresso, black truffle, anise, crushed stone, and fine oak notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet beautifully balanced and refined. Dark fruit leads the way, supported by savory complexity and a polished tannic frame. This is still a very young wine, and it has the structure and freshness to age gracefully for many years, developing even greater nuance over time.

Viininvalmistus
Monte Bello comes from the Santa Cruz Mountains, a high-elevation site known for its cooler climate and rugged terrain, which help preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. The grapes are carefully harvested and the wine is aged for 17 months in 100% new, air-dried oak barrels, a traditional approach that adds depth and structure while allowing the site’s character to remain at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, slow-braised lamb, roasted duck, or mushroom-based dishes with earthy depth. It should be served at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
