Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2019

Ridge Monte Bello is one of California’s truly iconic wines, a benchmark Bordeaux-style blend that has earned its place among the greats since the first vintage in 1962. Produced from the historic Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, it is admired for its rare combination of power, precision, and remarkable elegance.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Monte Bello 2019 shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its intensity. The nose is layered and complex, with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, espresso, black truffle, anise, crushed stone, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, yet beautifully balanced and never heavy. The dark fruit core is supported by savory notes and mineral detail, giving the wine depth, freshness, and finesse. Still very young, it has significant aging potential and should evolve gracefully for many years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The Monte Bello Vineyard sits high in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where elevation, cool nights, and rocky soils help produce wines with both structure and freshness. The grapes are carefully harvested to preserve precision and balance, then vinified with a focus on expressing the vineyard’s natural character. In 2019, the wine was matured for 17 months in 100% new, air-dried oak barrels, adding polish, spice, and complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for premium cuts of beef, roast lamb, game, or richly flavored dishes with mushrooms and herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to allow the wine to open and show its full aromatic range.
