Ridge Vineyards Petite Sirah Lytton Estate 2016 is a bold, characterful California red that puts Petite Sirah firmly in the spotlight. Sourced from the historic Lytton Springs vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, where Petite Sirah has been grown since 1901, it combines deep concentration with Ridge’s signature balance and precision.

In the glass, it shows a near-black core with a vivid purple rim, hinting at the intensity to come. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of blue fruit, leather, liquorice, lavender, menthol, and a stony gravel note that adds lift and complexity. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with dense dark fruit and savoury spice woven together in a way that feels both powerful and polished. The wine has plenty of structure and depth, with the kind of concentration that should allow it to age beautifully over the coming years, developing even more nuance and softness with time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the sustainably farmed Lytton Springs vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, a site long associated with old-vine field blends and now celebrated for its historic Petite Sirah plantings. The fruit is destemmed before pressing, then fermented and matured for 12 months in American oak barrels, 20% of which are new, giving the wine added spice and texture without overpowering the fruit.

This is a great match for grilled or slow-braised meats, peppered steak, barbecue ribs, game, or rich dishes with herbs and dark sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour if drinking young to let the aromatics open up and the structure soften.
