Scarpa Barbera d'Asti Superiore La Bogliona 2020 is a polished, characterful expression of Barbera from one of Piedmont’s most respected traditional producers. Combining ripe fruit, structure, and impressive depth, it showcases the variety’s natural energy while reflecting the elegance and seriousness that have made Barbera d’Asti one of Italy’s most prized red wines.

In the glass, this Barbera typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful intensity. The nose opens with dark cherry, plum, and blackberry, layered with hints of violet, spice, toasted oak, and subtle earthy tones. On the palate, it is vibrant and focused, with Barbera’s signature high acidity giving the wine lift and freshness. The fruit is generous yet refined, supported by supple tannins, savory spice, and a long, structured finish. With its balance of richness and freshness, La Bogliona has the concentration to age gracefully for several years, developing more complex notes of dried fruit, leather, and spice over time.

Viininvalmistus
Produced in Piedmont’s Asti area, La Bogliona draws on vineyards shaped by the region’s rolling hills, calcareous-clay soils, and temperate continental climate. These conditions help Barbera retain its brightness while building concentration and depth. Harvesting is typically done by hand to preserve fruit quality, and the wine is vinified with careful temperature control before maturation in oak, which adds structure and complexity without overshadowing the grape’s natural purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as braised beef, roasted lamb, game, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with Italian classics like pappardelle with ragù or osso buco. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opened young to allow the wine to fully раскрыться and show its aromatic depth.
