Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2011 Magnum is one of Tuscany’s most legendary wines, a benchmark Cabernet-based red from the renowned Bolgheri coast. Made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc, it combines power, elegance, and remarkable finesse, presented here in magnum format for even slower, more graceful aging.

In the glass, Sassicaia 2011 shows a deep ruby-red color with impressive intensity. The nose is layered and refined, offering ripe red berries, blackcurrant, spice, cedar, and a distinct mineral edge that reflects its coastal origin. On the palate, the wine is structured yet polished, with elegant tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, complex finish marked by tobacco, licorice, and subtle oak. The warm, dry 2011 vintage delivered a wine that is already accessible in its youth, but it also has the depth and balance to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years, especially in magnum.

Viininvalmistus
Sassicaia comes from the stony, well-drained soils of Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, where the maritime climate helps preserve freshness even in warmer vintages. The 2011 harvest was picked early to retain acidity and aromatic precision, with the grapes fermented in stainless steel before maturation for 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by bottle aging.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled or roasted red meats, game, lamb, and rich dishes with herbs, mushrooms, or truffle. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
