Weingut Hiedler Gaisberg 1 ÖWT Reserve Riesling 2023 is a finely crafted, fruit-driven and distinctly mineral Riesling from the hands of Ludwig Hiedler. Gaisberg’s milder microclimate and excellent soils have long made it one of Kamptal’s most important Riesling sites, and its Erste Lage status is well deserved.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Riesling shows a bright, youthful clarity that hints at both precision and energy. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with ripe mango, peach, lemon, mandarin, rosemary, and a subtle floral touch of hibiscus. On the palate, it is juicy and generous, with mature citrus fruit taking the lead alongside a striking mineral backbone that gives the wine both focus and length. It already offers plenty of immediate appeal, but its structure and balance suggest very good aging potential as the citrus and mineral nuances continue to evolve over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Gaisberg in Kamptal, a site shaped by a favorable, slightly warmer microclimate and soils that are exceptionally well suited to Riesling. The fruit was harvested by hand in late October, then destemmed before pressing. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, followed by maturation in tank on the lees to preserve freshness, purity, and the site’s mineral character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile food wine that works beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, sushi, ceviche, roast poultry, and dishes with fresh herbs or a touch of spice. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not essential, but a brief aeration can be beneficial if you want to open up the wine’s aromatic complexity.
