Williams Selyem Papera Vineyard Zinfandel 2023 is a beautifully expressive Russian River Valley Zin that balances power with remarkable freshness. From a historic vineyard planted in 1934, it captures the depth of old vines, delivering vibrant fruit, fragrant spice, and a distinctive savory edge.

In the glass, this Zinfandel shows a deep, concentrated color and immediately opens with bright aromas of orange peel and red currants, lifted by layers of red raspberry and wild berry bramble. As it evolves, the bouquet gains nuance with warm cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, and subtle herbal notes of herbes de Provence and dried sage. The palate is densely structured yet lively, with mouthwatering acidity supporting ripe berry fruit and a graceful thread of spice and dried herbs. Fine-grained tannins give the wine shape and length, while the balance of freshness and concentration suggests excellent aging potential over the next several years.

Papera Vineyard sits on the eastern side of Laguna de Santa Rosa in the Russian River Valley, where the cool California climate helps preserve acidity and aromatic precision. The site is planted to old Zinfandel vines from 1934, head-trained and largely dry-farmed, encouraging deep root growth and naturally concentrated fruit. This vineyard’s old-vine character is central to the wine’s depth, complexity, and sense of place.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Zinfandel is a natural match for hearty dishes such as grilled lamb, barbecue, braised short ribs, roasted pork, or richly seasoned mushroom dishes. It also works well with aged cheeses and dishes featuring warm spices or herb-forward sauces. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if enjoying it young to help the wine open fully.
