Château Haut-Brion Blanc 2005 is one of Bordeaux’s most admired dry white wines, prized for its precision, richness, and remarkable longevity. From one of the region’s most historic estates, this vintage combines citrus-driven freshness with subtle honeyed depth, making it both immediately seductive and built for long cellaring.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a luminous pale gold color that hints at its age and concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of citrus oil, lime, honeyed grapefruit, white flowers, spicy smoke, and a faint earthy nuance.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet finely focused, with excellent definition, purity, and a racy line of acidity that keeps the richness in balance. The texture is fleshy and broad without losing elegance, and the finish is long, poised, and complex. This is a wine that can be enjoyed now, but it has the structure and pedigree to age gracefully for 30 to 40 years.
Viininvalmistus
Produced at Château Haut-Brion in Pessac, just outside Bordeaux, the wine comes from one of the estate’s small plantings of white varieties, mainly Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards benefit from the gravelly terroir that has helped define Haut-Brion’s identity for centuries, and the grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then carefully sorted before vinification. Fermentation is followed by aging in new oak barrels for around 20 to 24 months, allowing the wine to gain depth, texture, and subtle complexity while preserving its signature freshness.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, roasted turbot, creamy poultry dishes, or truffle-infused cuisine, where its richness and acidity can shine. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 10-12°C, and consider gentle decanting if drinking young to help the aromatics open up more fully.

Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates and the first in the region to be sold under the château name. Founded in the 16th century in Pessac, it became internationally renowned early on and later earned a place among the elite first growths in the 1855 Classification. Since its modern revival under Clarence Dillon in 1935, and now led by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, the estate has remained a benchmark for consistency, elegance, and world-class Bordeaux.
