Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2016 300CL

Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2016 is a benchmark California red that shows just how expressive Zinfandel can be when blended with complementary varieties. Drawn from one of Sonoma’s most celebrated old-vine sites, it combines richness, structure, and balance in a style that has earned Ridge a longstanding reputation beyond Cabernet Sauvignon. With vines dating back more than a century in parts of the vineyard, this is a wine with both heritage and serious pedigree.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby-red color with a dark, youthful core. The nose is generous and layered, offering ripe red and black cherries, caramelized plums, dark berries, and a subtle floral lift, supported by hints of spice and warm earth. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with lush fruit, supple tannins, and excellent freshness. The blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet gives it extra depth, complexity, and texture, while the old-vine fruit keeps the flavors focused and vivid. It is already highly approachable, but it also has the concentration and balance to develop further with a few more years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
Geyserville comes from Alexander Valley in northern Sonoma, where old vines and well-suited soils provide ideal conditions for characterful, low-yield wine. Ridge has long emphasized site expression here, using fruit from historic vineyard parcels, including some of the estate’s oldest Zinfandel vines. The wine is made as a field blend in the classic Ridge style, with Zinfandel as the core and smaller amounts of supporting varieties added to build complexity, structure, and aromatic depth.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile food wine that pairs especially well with grilled lamb, roast pork, barbecue, braised short ribs, and richly seasoned dishes. It also works beautifully with hearty mushroom dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 30-60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromas to fully open.
