Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2021 Magnum is one of California’s most celebrated Zinfandel-based wines, renowned for its consistency, complexity, and remarkable balance. First produced in 1966, it has long held a place among the benchmark reds of the region, with old-vine parcels on the Geyserville Vineyard reaching up to 130 years in age and lending exceptional depth and character.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a dark ruby-red wine with impressive concentration and vibrancy. The nose opens with aromas of dark cherries, warm spice, cola, mint, and a subtle earthy undertone that adds complexity and lift. The palate is richly layered, showing dark fruit alongside notes of pomegranate, rose petals, cocoa, and a hint of smoky fire on the long finish. Despite its power, the wine remains beautifully composed and finely balanced, with excellent structure and the potential to evolve gracefully over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Geyserville Vineyard in Sonoma County is home to some of Ridge’s oldest vines, planted on a site that has become legendary for producing expressive, old-vine Zinfandel. The blend changes slightly from vintage to vintage, but Zinfandel typically makes up about 70%, with the remainder composed of Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. The wine is aged for 13 months in American oak, with only around 10% new barrels, allowing the fruit and vineyard character to remain at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile, richly flavored red that pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, braised short ribs, barbecue, roasted duck, or hearty mushroom dishes. Serve slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow the aromas and texture to fully open, especially when poured from magnum.
