Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2022 is one of California’s most iconic Zinfandel-based wines, consistently ranked among the region’s elite bottlings. First produced in 1966, it draws on an extraordinary old-vine vineyard where some parcels are now up to 130 years old, giving the wine remarkable depth, complexity, and sense of place.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a dark ruby-red wine with impressive concentration. The nose opens with dark cherry, spice, cola, mint, and a subtle earthy note that adds a layer of restraint to the exuberant fruit. The palate is richly textured and beautifully balanced, with dark fruit at the core and supporting notes of pomegranate, rose petals, cocoa, and a faint smoky character on the long finish. Despite its power, the wine feels remarkably composed, and it should reward further cellaring over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Geyserville Vineyard is planted in California’s Alexander Valley, where warm days and cooling influences help old vines ripen fully while preserving freshness. Ridge works with a traditional field-blend approach, with Zinfandel typically making up around 70% of the blend, supported by Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. The wine is matured for 13 months in American oak, with only about 10% new barrels, allowing the fruit and vineyard character to remain front and center.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, beef ribs, barbecue, slow-roasted pork, or hearty mushroom dishes. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and while decanting is not essential, giving it 30–60 minutes in a decanter will help the aromatics open up and the structure soften.
