Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2018 in double magnum format is a true California classic from one of Dry Creek Valley’s most celebrated sites. First made by Ridge in 1972, it brings together old-vine character, sustainable farming, and the kind of depth and balance that have made Lytton Springs a benchmark for Zin-based blends for decades.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a very dark, almost inky red wine that immediately signals concentration. The nose opens with ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, licorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, creating a layered and inviting aromatic profile. On the palate, it is full, plush, and expansive, with each flavor echoing the aromas in wave after wave of dark fruit, spice, and savory complexity. The finish is long and confident, and while it is already highly expressive, the wine has the structure and depth to age beautifully for several years, especially in this larger format.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, one of California’s most important Zinfandel sites, where warm days and the vineyard’s characterful old vines help shape the wine’s richness and intensity. The grapes were sustainably farmed and destemmed before fermentation, then matured in American oak barrels, with about 10% new oak and the rest between one and four years old, allowing the fruit to remain front and center while adding subtle spice and polish.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a powerful, flavorful red that works beautifully with grilled and roasted meats, especially lamb, beef short ribs, barbecue, and pepper-crusted steak. It also pairs well with rich game dishes, smoked sausages, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open up.
